Referral & placement
We welcome conversations with schools, local-authority teams and other commissioners exploring whether Hustle Hive could be part of a young person's education package.
Commissioner information pack
Everything in one place: who we work with, our curriculum, a typical day, referral and placement planning, safeguarding, monitoring and reporting, SEND support, health and safety, our team and due diligence documents.

Referral
The commissioner shares education history, attendance, SEND, health, behaviour, safeguarding and risk information.

Suitability discussion
We review the information and talk with the commissioner about whether we can safely and appropriately meet the learner's needs.

Meeting parents and carers
A chance to build a positive, trusting relationship from the start, see the building and meet the staff.

Placement agreement
Together we agree days, hours, objectives, responsibilities, information-sharing, safeguarding escalation, attendance procedures, review dates and costs.

Induction
The learner is introduced to the environment, staff, routines, expectations, safety procedures and the purpose of the placement.

Baseline and targets
Strengths, needs and priorities are recorded and turned into a small number of measurable targets.

Review
Progress, attendance, behaviour and suitability are reviewed at agreed intervals, with changes made when needed.

Transition or exit
The end of the placement is planned, with clear next steps and a summary of progress and recommendations.

Safeguarding, monitoring & quality
Safeguarding is central to every placement
Designated Safeguarding Lead: Gavin Copland
- All staff in regulated activity have the appropriate recruitment and safeguarding checks, completed and recorded.
- Staff are trained to respond to disclosures, child-on-child concerns, online safety, exploitation, radicalisation and allegations or low-level concerns.
- Key Stages are supported separately. Our adult community programmes run after the school day, and adults and young people never cross over.
- Visitors, contractors, site access and community-based learning are controlled and risk assessed.
- Procedures follow Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
Attendance & communication
- Attendance is recorded for every session, and non-attendance is reported promptly to the commissioner.
- Named contacts are agreed for Hustle Hive, parents and carers, and the commissioner.
- Significant incidents are recorded and shared promptly. Urgent safeguarding, health or safety information is shared immediately.
- Formal progress updates are provided at agreed review points.
Monitoring & quality assurance
We record attendance, learning, Hustle 100 milestones, behaviour, wellbeing and placement outcomes, using a simple cycle of baseline, delivery, review and improvement.
If progress isn't on track, we'll raise it with you rather than let a placement continue without a clear purpose. External quality-assurance visits are welcomed.
Health & safety
Practical learning is central to what we do, so safety is part of how we work, not just a policy in a folder. Access to equipment like 3D printers, hand tools and workshop machinery is matched to each learner's age, competence and individual risk assessment.
We hold risk assessments and safe operating procedures for all practical activities, plus fire, first-aid and off-site arrangements.

What makes Hustle Hive Learning different to other alternative provisions?
We balance cutting-edge technology and entrepreneurship with skills like bushcraft, mindfulness and wild wellness. Groups are small by design, learning is practical and purposeful, and everything is built around our Hustle 100 curriculum and a regulate, relate, reason approach.
Who is Hustle Hive Learning suitable for?
Young people in Years 6 to 11 who would benefit from a smaller, practical and highly structured learning environment as part of an agreed education plan. Key Stages are taught separately. See who we work with.
How many students attend each day?
Up to 6 learners per day, so staff can know each young person well and respond quickly when needs change.
Do you provide transport?
Yes. Transport is included in our £155 daily rate, along with snacks and refreshments. Lunch can be provided by agreement.
How do schools make a referral?
Contact Gavin or Kieron to discuss a placement. We'll ask for the learner's education, attendance, SEND, health, behaviour, safeguarding and risk information, then talk through suitability. See "Referral & placement" above for the full process.
